Create your Tunisian olive oil brand, turnkey
How do you create your own olive oil brand?
Creating your own olive oil brand means designing a product under your own name (positioning, packaging, label) and then having it produced as a private label by a supplier, without owning a mill. In practice: you define the brand, we produce and pack the Tunisian olive oil under your label, certified to COI/EU standards, with a COA per batch. Indicative launch budget from ~0.45 €/unit in co-packing (excluding the cost of the oil).
It is the fastest and most profitable route to launch a premium range: you focus your energy and capital on the brand and sales, not on the industry. This page details the steps, costs, MOQ, packaging, labelling regulations and storytelling.
The 7 steps to create your brand
From the idea to the first case delivered, here is the full journey.
- Positioning — Who are you selling to (fine food, e-commerce, export, food service)? Which segment: premium, organic, terroir, gifting? Positioning guides everything else.
- Naming & identity — Choice of name, visual world, label design. Check the availability of the name (trademark + domain name).
- Product choice — Category (extra virgin, virgin), variety or blend (mild Chemlali, pungent polyphenol-rich Chetoui…), organic or conventional. Validate on sample + COA.
- Packaging — Format and container (Marasca/Dorica glass, metal can, PET), cap, gift box. See packing.
- Regulatory labelling — Mandatory statements for the target market (see below and labelling by market).
- Trademark registration — Protect your name with INPI (France), EUIPO (EU) or WIPO (international) before launch.
- Production & launch — Quote, validated sample, production under your label, shipment and go-to-market. The full process is detailed on the private label side.
How much does it cost to create your own olive oil brand?
The budget breaks down into four line items. The benchmarks below are indicative low-end ranges.
| Line item | From | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Olive oil (FOB Tunisia) | ~3.80 €/kg (organic ~3.85 €/kg) | Depending on variety, volume, harvest |
| Co-packing / bottling | ~0.45 €/unit | Decreases with volume |
| Packaging (bottle + cap + carton) | variable | Premium glass > PET |
| Trademark registration | ~250 € (INPI, 1 class) | EUIPO ~850 €, WIPO variable |
Optional line items: label design, organic certification (Ecocert audit ~400–950 €) or IFS/BRC for large retail (several thousand euros). Cost your project precisely with the private label simulator.
Golden rule: never sign off on a budget without a dated quotation. Oil prices track the olive harvest and the exchange rate.
What minimum volume (MOQ) to start?
Good news: launching a brand does not require a full container. Benchmarks:
- Custom label, catalogue format: from ~1 pallet (a few hundred to ~1,000 units).
- Standard bottle / can: often 3,000 to 6,000 units per SKU for an optimal unit cost.
- Market test: possible on a small run in drums bottled locally, before scaling up.
The higher the volume, the lower the cost per bottle. Start small to validate the market, then scale up in volume.
Packaging: give your bottle a soul
Packaging accounts for 80% of the purchase decision on the shelf. Your options:
| Container | Formats | Message sent |
|---|---|---|
| Marasca glass | 250 / 500 / 750 ml | Tradition, authenticity |
| Dorica glass | 250 ml – 1 L | Fine food, gifting |
| Metal can | 1 – 5 L | Preservation, food service |
| PET | 1 – 5 L | Volume, entry level |
| Gift box / bag-in-box | custom | Gifting, e-commerce |
Details that make the difference: non-refill cap (non-refill), tamper-evident overcap, tinted glass (protects from light), QR traceability code, gift box. See OEM packing.
Labelling regulations: what is mandatory
A labelling error = customs hold. Each market has its own rules. The statements generally mandatory (EU):
- Sales name: exact category ("extra virgin olive oil").
- Origin: "origin Tunisia" (the origin of the oil, not just the place of bottling).
- Net quantity and best-before date ("best before…").
- Storage conditions (away from light and heat).
- Contact details of the responsible operator (your brand) and batch number.
- Nutrition declaration; in the USA, a Nutrition Facts panel and the FDA format.
Beware of claims: "organic" requires a certificate (Ecocert/USDA/EU); the EFSA health claim requires polyphenols ≥ 250 mg/kg verified on the COA. Detail by country on labelling by market. We validate your artwork before production.
Storytelling: what sells a Tunisian olive oil
The product is excellent; you still have to tell why. The angles that convert:
- The terroir — often thousand-year-old olive groves, arid climate, low-intensity cultivation: an oil of character.
- The variety — highlight the Chetoui (pungent, high polyphenols, health argument) or the Chemlali (mild, fruity, mainstream).
- Value for money — Tunisia, the 2nd largest producer in the world, offers award-winning quality (26 NYIOOC 2024 awards ) at a price below Italy's.
- Organic — a terroir naturally suited to organic, with the highest margin in the sector.
- Scarcity — production tied to the harvest, limited quotas: the brand has a seasonal story to tell.
Take inspiration from the existing Tunisian brands — then create your own, different one.
What if you launched an organic brand?
Organic is the highest-margin segment (premium ~+24% ) and demand is surging (Germany, USA). Tunisia is a world champion of organic EVOO, with Ecocert established in Sfax. Launching in organic = better margin + a health argument (the Chetoui's polyphenols, EFSA claim). Discover organic private label.

FAQ — Create your olive oil brand
How do you create your own olive oil brand without a plant?
Through private label (OEM): a supplier produces and packs the oil under your label. You manage the brand, the packaging and the sales; we manage production, quality and export. No industrial investment is needed.
How much does it cost to launch an olive oil brand?
The budget combines the oil (from ~3.80 €/kg FOB), co-packing (from ~0.45 €/unit), packaging and trademark registration (~250 € at INPI, 1 class ). A first run often launches at a few thousand euros. Use the private label simulator.
What minimum volume to launch my brand?
From ~1 pallet with a custom label on a catalogue format, generally 3,000 to 6,000 units per SKU for an optimal cost. You can test on a small run before scaling up in volume.
Do you need to register your trademark before launching?
Yes, imperatively. Register your name with INPI (France), EUIPO (European Union) or WIPO (international) before marketing, to protect your brand and prevent a third party from claiming it.
Which olive oil variety should I choose for my brand?
The Chemlali (southern Tunisia) is mild and fruity, ideal for the mass market. The Chetoui (North) is pungent, bitter and rich in polyphenols — perfect for a premium/health positioning. A custom blend lets you tune the profile to your target.
Can I create an organic brand?
Yes. We supply in certified organic Ecocert / USDA / EU. Organic opens premium markets (Germany, USA) with a better margin. Certification attests to the production method (plots + mill); we sell organic only when it is certified.
Which statements are mandatory on the label?
Exact category, origin (Tunisia), net quantity, best-before date, storage conditions, contact details of the responsible operator, batch number and nutrition declaration. The rules vary by market (Nutrition Facts in the USA, Arabic label in the Gulf). See labelling by market.
How long does it take to launch my brand?
Generally 6 to 12 weeks between sign-off on the specifications (product, packaging, label) and the first shipment, depending on the complexity of the packaging and the olive harvest (indicative — to be confirmed).
Does the formula / blend of my oil stay confidential?
Yes. Your blend and your specifications are covered by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). We disclose your formula to no third party and can provide contractual exclusivity.
Can I sell my brand in large retail?
Yes, provided you hold the IFS Food / BRCGS certifications (near-mandatory for private label and the retail chains). We provide the quality and documentary elements; the training covers listing with buying groups.
How do I differentiate from existing brands?
Through positioning (organic, terroir, rare variety, gifting), storytelling (thousand-year-old terroir, variety, value for money), packaging and the channel (e-commerce, fine food, targeted export). We provide a premium base; your brand makes the difference.
Do you offer support for beginners?
Yes: the starter kit (free) provides the method and the checklist, and the "create your brand" training (3,500 DT) covers positioning, packaging, labelling, certifications, prospecting and listing — with lifetime access to the tools.
