Frequently asked questions
Where do these prices come from?
For Spain, Italy, Greece and Portugal, from the European Commission, which publishes the national average prices reported each week by the Member States. For Tunisia, from the price at origin published by Oleista, shown with its date.
How often are they updated?
European prices are weekly and the page reloads them every 24 hours. The Tunisian quote is updated with each new publication; its date is shown next to the price.
Do these prices include transport or duties?
No. They are bulk oil prices at origin, excluding transport, insurance, customs duties, VAT and packaging.
What does the "premium extra virgin" line mean?
It is our benchmark for a premium Tunisian extra virgin oil: the Tunisian extra virgin quote plus 2%.
Is this Zitouna Export's selling price?
No. These are market benchmarks. The firm price depends on grade, format, volume and incoterm; it is on the quote, sent within 24 business hours.
Why do prices differ by origin?
Each market has its own harvest, stocks, demand and grades. Gaps between origins move from week to week, so compare prices of the same date and grade.
What is the difference between extra virgin, virgin and lampante?
Extra virgin has free acidity ≤ 0.8% and no sensory defect; virgin has acidity ≤ 2%. Lampante exceeds these limits and must be refined before consumption.
Why €/kg and not €/litre?
Bulk oil is traded by weight. To convert, we count 0.93 kg per litre.
What does the "change" column show?
The difference between the latest published price and the previous week's, for the same country and grade.
How do I get a firm price?
Send your request through the quote form: grade, format (drum, IBC, flexitank or bottle), volume and destination. You receive an FOB Sfax price within 24 business hours.
Can I reuse these figures?
European Commission data can be reused with the source cited. For the Tunisian quote, refer to Oleista's terms.
